Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks a Computer Science/Engineering intern to advance computer vision for lunar landing imagery, using CNNs/ViTs and PyTorch. The role supports remote work in the United States, with an internship window from Sept 8 to Dec 18, 2026.

The intern will collaborate with diverse engineering teams, produce CAD-ready drawings, and develop clear reports and presentations documenting design decisions and progress.

Qualifications

• Progress toward a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Physics, CS, or Engineering.
• Working knowledge of CNNs/ViTs and PyTorch.
• Working knowledge of PSI scattering physics.
• Programming in C/C++, Python, Julia.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Available to work at NASA Langley or remotely.
• US citizenship or permanent residency due to ITAR restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Apply computer vision techniques (CNNs/ViTs) to improve degraded imagery/videos for lunar landing PSI effects.
• Iterate designs based on feedback from engineering teams.
• Produce CAD drawings and configuration-controlled CAD packages for design reviews.
• Develop reports and presentations with clear guidance and comments.
• Attend meetings, teleconferences, and workshops as needed.
