Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking a Computer Science/Engineering intern to apply the latest in computer vision, including CNNs and ViTs, to enhance imagery during lunar landing scenarios. The internship supports work at our Hampton, VA location with remote options available and begins September 8, 2026.

The role requires progress toward a degree in Physics, CS, or Engineering, and experience with PyTorch for image processing, plus C/C++, Python, and Julia programming.

Qualifications

• Progress toward a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Physics, computer science, or engineering.
• Working knowledge and application of CNNs/ViTs to image processing using PyTorch.
• Knowledge of PSI scattering physics.
• Programming experience in C/C++, Python, Julia.

Responsibilities

• Apply computer vision techniques (CNNs, ViTs) to improve degraded imagery/video feeds for lunar landing.
• Iterate designs based on team feedback (GN&C, mechanical, flight test).
• Produce engineering drawings and configuration-controlled CAD packages for design reviews.
• Develop reports and presentations with clear guidance and comments.
