Job summary

MaryRuth's is seeking a Compliance Specialist to support product formulations and claims for dietary supplements and personal care items. You will interpret scientific research, develop substantiation documents, and review labeling and advertising for FDA/FTC compliance.

Reporting to the Corporate Counsel in Legal, this full-time, exempt, remote role offers PST-hours preference and a compensation range of $85,000 to $100,000 USD per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology or related field.
• 2–3+ years evaluating clinical studies and evidence quality.
• 1–3 years in dietary supplements/consumer health or related labeling work (preferred).
• Familiarity with FDA/FTC labeling and advertising requirements; USDA organic regs is ideal.
• Proficiency with Microsoft or Google Suite; AI-assisted tools a plus.
• Ability to translate scientific info into practical, clear conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Assess studies and literature and translate evidence into compliant claim language.
• Prepare substantiation materials supporting product claims for internal and external audiences.
• Evaluate labels, website copy, ads for consistency with approved claims and regulations.
• Support product innovation with scientific insights for compliant development.
• Collaborate with Legal, Product Development, Marketing on compliance matters.
• Travel (<5%) may be required with notice.
