Local Progress in the United States is seeking a Communications Manager to develop and execute comprehensive campaigns across media and digital channels. The role will shape messaging for school boards and state campaigns, working with California and Pacific Northwest partners, with a remote, U.S.-based setup but requiring residency in California.

Qualifications

• 6+ years overall communications experience in advocacy, political, or public policy fields.
• Experience developing and executing communications plans with strong media relations and social media management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects remotely and communicate progress clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences.
• Spanish language fluency and experience with Spanish-language media are a plus.
• Experience with racial and economic justice issues in local policy contexts.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead day-to-day communications needs, including emails, media inquiries, brand development, and website/social channels.
• Develop messaging frames, draft press releases, op-eds, and social copy; create graphics for partners.
• Provide strategic communications guidance and media prep for LP members.
• Collaborate across the LP team to disseminate news, organize events, and share reports.
• Help grow press lists and cultivate relationships with national and local reporters.
