Job summary
Turner & Townsend in the Midwest region is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to oversee HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems from design through functional testing for renovation and new construction projects. You will travel ~75% and may work from home when not onsite; preferred locations include Chicago, Louisville, Cincinnati, Nashville, St.
Louis, near a major airport. A Bachelor's in engineering and 2+ years in MEP is required; FE/PE track encouraged.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in engineering, 2 years relevant experience, or 5 years in MEP systems.
- FE preferred; PE track on target for advancement (CxA/CCP/BCxP optional).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; deliver professional reports.
- Strong organizational and documentation management skills.
- Ability to analyze complex construction docs and building controls.
- Proficient in Word/Excel; familiarity with commissioning software preferred.
Responsibilities
- Verify systems are designed, installed and operated per design basis.
- Review design docs, submittals, and operation sequences for conformance.
- Plan and document commissioning meetings; write checklists.
- Conduct site walks, testing, and visit reports.
- Direct onsite testing and monitor complex systems.
- Resolve issues with contractors and owners; create deliverables.
- Guide junior staff on complex projects or lead team on simpler ones.
