Job summary

Mercury General is seeking a Commercial Underwriter II (Commercial Multi-Peril) to analyze commercial lines of business and assess risk for medium to large accounts. The role requires strong teamwork, customer service and problem solving, with a results oriented mindset.

Essential duties include evaluating new and renewal accounts, reviewing property inspections and endorsements, and coordinating with agents to grow business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• AU, AINS and/or CPCU certifications are desirable.
• 2-4 years of underwriting experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, accepts, rejects or modifies new and renewal accounts within underwriting guidelines.
• Reviews and evaluates property inspections and recommendations for risk improvement.
• Reviews endorsements and cancellations within limits of authority.
• Accompanies Marketing and meets with agents to develop relationships and generate business.
• Communicates effectively with underwriting and support areas to meet customer needs.
• Evaluates and processes reinsurance placements.
