Job summary

WAHVE is seeking a Veteran Commercial Underwriter for remote, long-term work from home. The role targets insurance carriers, MGAs, or wholesale brokers with a focus on Agricultural & Farm underwriting, offering full or part-time schedules and benefits.

Responsibilities include evaluating farm risks, reviewing applications, applying guidelines, and building agent relationships to ensure profitable underwriting and service quality.

Qualifications

• 25 years of full-time work experience
• 10 most recent years of Commercial Lines Property & Casualty insurance experience specifically with underwriting of Agricultural & Farm business

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite farm and agricultural insurance risks, including property, liability, commercial auto, and farm operations exposures.
• Review applications, inspection reports, loss histories, and financial information to determine eligibility and pricing.
• Apply underwriting guidelines to assess risk and determine appropriate coverage, terms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and brokers.
• Provide underwriting guidance and support to agents regarding farm risks and coverage solutions.
• Monitor portfolio performance and make recommendations to maintain profitability.
• Collaborate with loss control, claims, and product teams to improve underwriting outcomes.
• Stay informed on industry trends, agricultural practices and regulatory requirements.
