Job summary

First American is seeking a title examiner to analyze title records, verify ownership, and prepare initial title commitments. The role involves reviewing leases, liens, judgments, and other documents to ensure accurate title descriptions for a broad mix of commercial and residential properties.

This position emphasizes attention to detail, strong analytical and research abilities, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years directly related experience.
• State license(s) if required.
• Detail / quality orientation.
• Analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Performs title examination and examines the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily commercial/residential.
• Abstracts and analyzes records, such as leases, subleases, liens, judgments, easements; determines ownership and legal restrictions.
• Resolves issues in title documentation.
• Prepares initial title commitment documentation.
• Prepares and reviews reports for accuracy.
• May provide underwriting interpretation within guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
