Job summary

First American’s Agency Division is seeking a qualified Title Examiner to examine titles, abstract records, and determine ownership and legal descriptions for commercial and residential properties. The role requires attention to detail, research skills, and the ability to resolve complex information.

You will prepare title commitments, review reports for accuracy, and may provide underwriting interpretation within guidelines. A high school diploma and 3+ years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years directly related experience.
• State license(s) if required may apply.
• Detail / quality orientation is essential.
• Analytical review skills are needed.
• Research skills are required.
• Strong problem solving abilities are important.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

• Proficiency with company operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs title examination and examines the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily commercial/residential.
• Abstracts and analyzes records such as leases, subleases, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plot and map books.
• Resolves issues such as missing or incomplete or contradictory information in title documentation.
• Prepares initial title commitment documentation per guidelines.
• Prepares and reviews reports for accuracy.
• May provide underwriting interpretation within guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
