Job summary

SouthState Bank is offering a 10-week Loan Closing Internship Program designed to introduce undergraduates to commercial loan closing, documentation, regulatory compliance, and career paths within the Loan Closing Department. Interns will train with experienced professionals and gain hands-on exposure across the loan closing lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related field; rising senior, graduating 2028.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams; strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, intellectually curious, service-focused, able to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Participate in internship program activities, including workshops, training sessions and special projects.
• Assist with loan request intake, document organization, workflow tracking and operational reporting.
• Review loan closing packages under supervision for completeness and accuracy.
• Gain exposure to borrower structures, collateral types, flood requirements and approvals.
• Observe preparation and review of closing documents, instructions and settlement information.
• Collaborate with Loan Closing Liaisons and Closers and partners across Lending, Credit Administration, Compliance.
• Support quality control, exception tracking, process improvement, reporting and automation initiatives.
• Prioritize tasks, maintain attention to detail, protect confidential information and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
• Complete and present a final project summarizing learnings and recommendations to leadership.
