Job summary

SouthState Bank is offering a 10-week Loan Closing Internship Program designed for undergraduate students. You will train with professionals in Commercial Loan Closing, gaining hands-on exposure to the full closing lifecycle from intake to funding support in a remote setting.

You will develop knowledge of borrower structures, guaranties, collateral, flood/insurance requirements, and closing documentation, while receiving mentorship and structured department training.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.4 preferred.
• Undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Business Analytics or related field; rising senior, graduating in 2028.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams; strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills; eager to learn.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, able to work independently and remotely, with strong collaboration.
• Interest in commercial lending, loan operations, documentation, compliance, automation, or AI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in internship activities, workshops, and job shadowing.
• Assist with loan request intake, document organization, workflow tracking, and operational reporting.
• Review loan closing packages under supervision for completeness and identify missing or inconsistent information.
• Gain exposure to borrower structures, collateral types, flood requirements, insurance, title work, and approvals.
• Present a final project summarizing key learnings and recommendations to department leadership.
