Job summary

Stearns Bank is seeking a Commercial Lender to develop and manage lending relationships across the bank’s national platform, guiding loan requests from intake to funding while balancing profitability with risk. You will oversee a loan portfolio to grow balances and minimize past-due issues.

The ideal candidate has a proven commercial lending track record, strong underwriting and credit analysis skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience may substitute.
• Proven track record in commercial lending.
• Relationship management skills for commercial and CRE lending.
• Strong analytical and underwriting expertise with credit focus.
• Excellent oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop an on-going personal business development plan to drive new loan growth.
• Collect information from applicants to underwrite loan requests and respond to credit questions.
• Provide status updates on loans in process and in backlog.
• Make timely loan decisions within authority.
• Ensure accurate loan grading, documentation, and portfolio follow-up.
• Grow business from existing customers through referrals.
• Monitor delinquent accounts and coordinate collection actions.
• Track loan repayments and initiate collection steps as needed.
• Engage in community activities to generate new business opportunities.
• Promote bank services and refer customers to the right specialists.
• Utilize bank systems for lead tracking, underwriting, closings, and servicing workflows.
• Maintain knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance.
