Job summary

Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company in Urbandale, IA, is seeking a Commercial Auto Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster to manage complex liability claims from start to finish. You will investigate, evaluate coverage, reserve appropriately, and negotiate settlements with agents, policyholders, and legal partners.

This fully remote, full-time role requires 2+ years of auto liability claims experience, strong negotiation and analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a paperless

Qualifications

• 2+ years handling Commercial Auto or Motor Carrier liability claims, incl. litigation.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.
• Experience with mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Strong collaboration with legal counsel and claims teams.
• Multi-State adjusting experience preferred.
• Insurance education and/or designations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigate & evaluate – Conduct in-depth claim investigations, gather statements, determine coverage.
• Reserve Management – Timely & adequate reserving.
• Document Management – Maintain organized claim files, reports, communications.
• Negotiate & Resolve – Strategically negotiate settlements for fair, timely resolutions.
• Stay Current – Keep up with evolving statutes, policy conditions, industry trends.
• Navigate Technology – Operate within a paperless claims management system.
• Engage in Legal Proceedings – Travel for depositions, mediations, and trials as needed.
