Job summary

Rockland Trust is seeking a Commercial Review Appraiser to independently review externally prepared commercial real estate appraisal reports to support safe credit decisions. The role ensures that appraisals are well-supported, methodologically sound, and compliant with USPAP, FIRREA, interagency guidelines, and Rockland Trust standards.

The appraiser serves as a key risk partner and liaison with valuation providers.

Qualifications

• Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license in MA and/or RI.
• Minimum 5 years of CRE appraisal or review experience.
• Strong knowledge of New England CRE markets and appraisal methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Review externally prepared commercial and investment residential appraisal reports and prepare USPAP Standard 3 review reports.
• Assess reasonableness and support of assumptions, data and conclusions.
• Ensure compliance with USPAP, FIRREA, Interagency guidelines and internal standards.
• Identify deficiencies and document findings for stakeholders.
• Liaise between the Bank and third‑party appraisers to resolve issues.
• Explain appraisal concepts to loan officers and risk teams clearly.
• Maintain an internal database of market comparables and trends.
• Stay current on regulatory requirements affecting CRE valuation.
