Qualifications
- At least 2 years in digital journalism or entertainment writing.
- Deep knowledge of comic strips and newspaper comics.
- Familiarity with major strips (Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, Garfield, etc.).
- Strong research skills; able to write authoritatively on comic-strip history.
- Understand headlines, rankings, hooks for fans and general audiences.
- Knowledge of SEO and CMS tools is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Write engaging features, lists, rankings, retrospectives, and commentary focused on classic and contemporary comic strips.
- Cover beloved strips and major properties; identify angles around strips, characters, and milestones.
- Explore history and cultural impact of influential strips and cartoonists.
- Monitor anniversaries, creator news, reissues, collections, and online conversations for timely content.
- Develop ideas that appeal to both fans and broader entertainment audiences.
- Work with editors to develop ideas and meet deadlines; publish content on deadline.
