Qualifications

• AHIMA-approved CPC or AHIMA Credentials program completion.
• One year of coding experience preferred.
• Equivalent education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD, HCPCS/CPT, and E/M codes with 95% accuracy for outpatient/inpatient encounters.
• Abstracts demographic and clinical data for performance improvement and reimbursement.
• Validates charges on accounts/charge sessions.
• Collaborates with providers and staff to resolve coding issues.
• Maintains statistics and logs for the work area.
• Assists training of students and new staff as directed.
• Keeps updated on ICD-10-CM, HCPCS/CPT, E/M guidelines and payer changes.
• Informs management of coding issues; participates in teams/committees.
