Job summary

UPMC Corporate Revenue Cycle is seeking a Coder II to join our Coding Department in a work-from-home capacity, Monday through Friday during business hours.

The position focuses on coding diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and DSM IV as applicable, with emphasis on accuracy and timely submission for reimbursement. Prior same-day surgery coding experience is preferred to join the team.

Qualifications

• Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
• Familiarity with CCI edits and hospital billing workflows.
• Knowledge of ACEP acuity level guidelines for ED coding.

Responsibilities

• Review coding for accuracy and submission using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and DSM IV as applicable.
• Follow internal policies; participate in monthly coding meetings and pursue continuing education.
• Meet coding accuracy standards and productivity targets within established timelines.
• Code diagnoses and procedures, assigning principal and secondary codes based on documentation.
• Use hospital information systems and encoders to ensure accurate data entry and coding.
