Job summary

Hansen Talent Group seeks a strong COBOL developer to support mainframe applications. The role is open to remote candidates who can obtain a security clearance and work on high-volume COBOL systems.

You will participate in requirements sessions, design and maintain COBOL, optimize Db2 data flows, manage JCL batch processes, and support CICS screens. Collaboration with EDI and non-host teams, plus mentoring junior developers, are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Extensive COBOL experience on secure, high-volume mainframe systems.
• Hands-on Db2 experience.
• Experience collaborating with EDI teams and non-host applications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements gathering sessions to define business requirements and develop technical specifications.
• Provide technical input on application design and direction.
• Design, develop, and maintain COBOL programming.
• Optimize database operations with Db2 data flows, queries, and file processing.
• Support job scheduling and batch processing using JCL.
• Maintain CICS screens and online applications.
• Collaborate with EDI teams and non-host application teams to ensure solutions align.
• Support unit testing and debugging prior to production.
• Mentor junior developers and participate in knowledge share sessions.
