Job summary

Cardinal Health WaveMark Solutions is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to own reliability and uptime for a large healthcare SaaS platform. You’ll automate maintenance, deployments, and DR strategies for cloud databases, collaborating with software, IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure performance and regulatory alignment.

Based in the United States, you will drive observability, deployment automation, and data movement modernization with a strong focus on HIPAA compliance and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Experience with Oracle database administration and cloud platforms such as AWS RDS or GCP.
• Knowledge of database automation, scripting, and deployment processes.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, automated remediation).
• Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code.
• Understanding of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST).
• Familiarity with change data capture (CDC) technologies.
• Experience in Kubernetes-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle (primary), MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in managed cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems to track database health.
• Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design, automate database refresh processes between environments.
• Design data masking processes for non-production environments.
• Collaborate on security, compliance, and audits.
• Partner on data governance, patching, and access controls.
• Collaborate on deployment automation and data movement architectures.
• Design and test backup, restore, replication, and DR strategies.
