Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) seeks a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join NIH CIT Hosting and Storage Services. The role focuses on designing, automating, and delivering secure, scalable cloud infra across AWS and Azure, with an automation-first mindset and customer-focused engineering practices.

Qualifications

• BS/BA and 4+ years of IT-related experience.
• Experience engineering and supporting cloud/infrastructure solutions within a professional IT environment.
• Experience independently implementing well-defined technical solutions while collaborating with senior engineers on larger or more complex designs.
• Experience working collaboratively with technical teams, customers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support secure, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions in AWS and Azure for hosting applications and data.
• Develop and enhance standardized, reusable cloud infrastructure services and automation using Terraform, Ansible, and related technologies.
• Configure and integrate cloud compute, storage, database, identity, networking, security, monitoring, backup, and related services to support application hosting requirements.
• Develop and support automation and CI/CD capabilities that streamline infrastructure provisioning and application deployments, reduce manual effort, and improve reliability and operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, automation, application hosting, and cloud integration issues, collaborating across engineering disciplines to drive problems through resolution.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation procedures, and security and compliance artifacts necessary to support cloud services and maintain authorization.
• Participate in Agile activities, technical design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance engineering practices, service delivery, and the customer experience.
