Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking an Operations Manager, Clinical Studies in the Clinical Research Department. This full-time, grant-funded role can be home-based.

The position manages operations, budgeting, contracts, and reporting across multiple budgets from $50–$100 million, supporting leadership with variances and reconciliation. Responsibilities include coordinating with legal, vendors, and sponsors; using systems like E1, Optimus, and iEnvision to process invoices and contracts;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in accounting, financial analysis, budget analysis, and general business administration.
• Grant project management experience, preferably in healthcare, including clinical trials.
• Extensive knowledge of budgeting, financial and reporting processes.
• Proficiency in purchasing, budget projection, variance analysis, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Handle operations including accounting, expense reporting, and procurement; build reports and trackers to ensure compliance.
• Manage departmental contracting processes, including site and sponsor contracts.
• Negotiate contract terms with hospitals, practices, sponsors, etc., with legal dept. oversight.
• Operate budgeting and reporting systems to track budgets between $50M and $100M.
• Prepare monthly variance reports and monitor purchase, contract terms, and vendor invoices against budget.
