Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services seeks a Program Specialist V (CHW Certification Program Specialist) to review CHW renewal applications, ensure compliance with statutes and rules, and provide expert guidance statewide.

Under supervision in the Community & School Health department, you will analyze data, coordinate training centers, and collaborate with partners to improve certification processes while supporting program oversight and policy development.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant field such as education, public health, health promotion or health education.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience reviewing, evaluating, or processing applications, certification, approvals, or similar program materials to determine compliance with applicable requirements, standards, policies, or procedures.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing training, consultation, technical assistance, or guidance to internal or external stakeholders on program requirements, standards, policies, procedures, or processes.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, evaluates, and processes renewal applications for CHW certification. Documents certification decisions and communicates required corrective actions.
• Provides training, advanced consultation, and technical assistance to applicants and stakeholders regarding CHW certification requirements and processes.
• Analyzes certification requirements and program processes to develop recommendations and action plans for improvements and new activities.
• Manages and analyzes CHW certification data and prepares reports for leadership and stakeholders.
• Performs other duties and participates in emergency response or COOP activities as needed.
