Job summary

CA CASA seeks a Chief Program Officer to implement statewide program strategy, lead capacity-building and quality improvement, and supervise the program team. The CPO reports to the CEO and collaborates with the executive leadership to advance child welfare outcomes across 44 local CASA programs in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social work, public policy, and/or related field.
• 10+ years of leadership in nonprofit, child welfare, juvenile justice, public government, or related fields.
• 5+ years in senior leadership and strategic planning experience.
• Experience with governance, capacity-building, and cross-sector collaboration.
• Strong communication, facilitation, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with grants, budgets, statewide initiatives, and stakeholder engagement.
• Data-informed decision-making experience and outcome-focused storytelling.
• Commitment to inclusive, culturally-responsive practices.

Responsibilities

• Shape CA CASA’s strategy as a member of the executive leadership team.
• Provide executive oversight for public policy, legislative affairs, and government relations.
• Lead statewide initiatives, learning, quality improvement, and capacity-building.
• Supervise program staff and ensure collaboration across departments.
• Represent CA CASA with state agencies, boards, and partners.
• Travel statewide and engage with local CASA programs to strengthen capacity.
