Job summary

California CASA Association is seeking a Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs to lead statewide advocacy, policy development, and government relations. You will work closely with the CEO and Board, align statewide priorities, and advance funding strategies that support CA CASA’s network and youth in the juvenile justice system.

The role focuses on coordinating legislative campaigns, supervising staff, and translating field data into effective policy positions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
• Master’s degree in one of these areas is a plus.
• Excellent writing, research, policy analysis, and communication skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to travel regularly throughout CA, particularly to Sacramento (resides in the greater Sacramento area).

Responsibilities

• Leads statewide advocacy, policy development, government relations, research initiatives, and systems-change efforts.
• Collaborates with local CASA programs, contract lobbyists, legislators, and state agencies.
• Develops and maintains legislative advocacy calendars and annual state budget strategy.
• Represents CA CASA in statewide meetings, workgroups, and partnerships.
• Prepares legislative briefs, testimony, and advocacy materials for leadership and Board.
• Coordinates collaboration across departments to align advocacy and program priorities.
