Job summary

Placements24 seeks a remote Chemical Process Engineer to join a global team. The role focuses on design, analysis, and optimization of chemical processes to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability, all performed remotely from anywhere within South Africa.

You will model and simulate processes with Aspen Plus or HYSYS, lead optimization projects, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years in chemical process engineering, focused on design and optimization.
• Experience with Aspen Plus or HYSYS and data analysis.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed team.
• Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, separations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient in virtual collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and simulate complex chemical processes using advanced software tools, working remotely.
• Develop and implement process optimization strategies to increase throughput and reduce costs.
• Conduct detailed technical reviews and provide recommendations on process design and modifications.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards globally.
• Collaborate with international engineering and operations teams via virtual channels.
• Troubleshoot process issues remotely and provide on-site support when travel is required.
