Job summary

WhatJobs Direct seeks a Senior Process Chemical Engineer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across large-scale applications.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, a Bachelor's or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, and hands-on expertise with Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or CHEMCAD.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
5–7 years of progressive experience in process engineering in chemical/related industries.
Experience with process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, CHEMCAD).
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mass transfer and reaction kinetics.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize chemical processes for large-scale industrial applications.
Conduct feasibility studies, pilot plant trials, and scale-up operations for new products and improvements.
Design and specify process equipment using process simulation software.
Analyze process data to improve yield, energy use, and waste reduction.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex process issues in production.
Collaborate with R&D, operations, and quality teams in a remote setting.
Prepare PFDs and P&IDs, and mentor junior engineers.
