Job summary

Burkland Associates seeks a CFO Advisory Consultant to act as a long-term financial partner to MSO/PC clients. You will own monthly closes, budgeting, forecasting, intercompany billing, and investor updates, while advising CEOs on capital strategy and growth.

This is a remote-first contract engagement with flexible hours and performance-based incentives. Ideal candidates bring 7–10 years in healthcare finance, strong Excel/Sheets, and experience with QBO, Carta, Rippling, Ramp, and AI tools for

Qualifications

• Direct MSO/PC experience with intercompany settlements and unit economics.
• Healthcare experience related to insurance reimbursements.
• Owning the numbers long-term, not just fixed-fee FP&A models.
• Experience advising through growth events (fundraising, M&A, exits); VC/IB/corporate development background is a plus.
• 7–10 years in finance/operations, preferably in healthcare growth sectors.
• Excel/Sheets skills; familiarity with QBO, Carta, Rippling, Ramp, Rillet, etc.
• Experience with AI tools and LLMs applied to CFO functions.
• MBA or CPA preferred, not required.
• Strategic judgment and strong soft skills.
• Candidates based in Austin, Boston, New York, or Northern California preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly close, budgeting, and forecasting across the MSO and affiliated PCs.
• Keep MSO/PC economics clean: intercompany billing, cost allocations, management fee settlements, and ensure compliance.
• Advise the CEO and physician leadership on financial strategy, including capital planning and growth.
• Own the finance section of Board meetings with KPI dashboards and investor updates.
• Support fundraising and M&A: sizing rounds, modeling scenarios, speaking investors' language.
• Maintain fundamentals: revenue cycle, cash flow planning, vendor spend, controls, growth potential and audit readiness.
• Flag opportunities to offer Burkland's bookkeeping, tax, and HR services.
