Job summary

SSOE is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong CFD focus to support HVAC system design for mission-critical data centers. You will perform CFD analyses, optimize airflow and thermal performance, and work with in-house engineering and architecture teams to deliver robust, energy-efficient solutions.

The role requires 8+ years in mechanical/HVAC design, Proficiency in Cadence CFD tools, AutoCAD, and Revit, and a solid understanding of ASHRAE guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 8+ years in mechanical/HVAC design, preferably for data centers.
• Hands-on CFD modeling using Cadence software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ASHRAE guidelines, and building codes.
• Ability to translate simulation data into engineering decisions and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, and 3D models per client specs.
• Perform CFD simulations to analyze airflow, temperature, and cooling effectiveness.
• Design and optimize HVAC systems including CRAH/CRAC, chillers, and containment.
• Compute cooling loads, pressure drops, and energy efficiency metrics.
• Interpret CFD results to improve redundancy and PUE performance.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and Controls teams.
• Participate in design reviews, QA/QC, and project milestones.
• Visit sites for verification and support construction activities.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, and technical inquiries with vendors.
