Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on CFD to support HVAC design for mission-critical data centers. You will work with in-house engineering and architecture teams from scope development through commissioning to ensure high-performance, energy-efficient environments.

You will perform CFD simulations with Cadence tools, design CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, containment systems, and ventilation strategies, and translate CFD results into practical design recommendations while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical/HVAC design, preferably in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Hands-on CFD modeling using Cadence software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and ASHRAE guidelines.
• Ability to translate CFD data into design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs, technical project plans, specs, drawings, and 3D models.
• Perform CFD simulations to analyze airflow, temperature distribution, and cooling effectiveness.
• Design and optimize HVAC systems including CRAH/CRAC, chillers, containment, and ductwork.
• Conduct cooling load analysis, airflow distribution, and energy-efficiency calculations.
• Interpret CFD results to recommend improvements for thermal management and redundancy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems.
• Participate in design reviews and field verifications.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, and documentation; support commissioning.
