Remote, Certified Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

Pharmacy technicians are sought in Florida or the Central/Eastern time zone to review Prior Authorizations for a Pharmacy Services department within a large healthcare insurance company. Technicians will either approve or deny authorizations, then forward them to pharmacists for final review. The role involves handling all health plans and various types of medications.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescription exceptions, which may include resolving claim rejects and member and physician outreach.
  • Enter member demographics and prescription information into the data processing system.
  • Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues and/or escalated member issues.
  • Escalate questions regarding prescriptions to a pharmacist for interpretation or provide direction on processing.
  • Assist with inbound and/or outbound patient or physician calls.

Essential Skills

  • High School diploma.
  • Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by the state of operation.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Nationally Certified Technician and registered pharmacy technician in the state they live.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience with Prior Authorization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
  • Experience in call center, PBM, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings.
  • Must have a HS Diploma/GED.

Work Environment

The position is remote, requiring a professional home office space with strong Wi-Fi and a closed door. Technicians will work in multiple screens and systems and must possess a smartphone. The company provides necessary equipment such as a computer, monitor, and headset. The shift requires availability Monday-Friday, 8am-7pm in the technician's time zone, with rotating weekends every 4-6 weeks and some holidays. Training is conducted from 10-6:30 EST, after which regular shifts commence.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
