Job summary

Gulf Coast Center is hiring a Certified Peer Specialist in Galveston County to provide peer support within mental health and substance use services. The CPS will advocate for clients, help in recovery planning, and model wellness strategies across settings.

The role emphasizes independent work, community engagement, and adherence to agency guidelines. A CPS credential is preferred; high school diploma or GED is required, with 2+ years of personal recovery experience.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of personal recovery.
• Experience in coaching using Motivational Interviewing.
• Knowledge of local community resources and ability to refer clients.
• Must be able to work independently and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate weekly peer support groups to promote recovery.
• Assist clients in articulating personal recovery goals and plans.
• Coordinate transportation for clients to appointments and provide related support.
• Engage with community partners and attend meetings or events for referrals.
• Maintain documentation and comply with GCC policies and procedures.
