Job summary

The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) provides recovery-oriented peer support services to individuals by developing trusting, supportive relationships and drawing upon shared lived experiences with mental health, substance use recovery, the mental health system, and/or forensic experiences.

This role is responsible for helping individuals identify strengths, establish and achieve recovery goals, develop natural support systems, identify recovery strategies and treatment options, and connect with

Qualifications

• Be a self-identified individual in recovery.
• Have 12 months of paid or voluntary work experience or 1 year of post-secondary education.
• Completed CPS certification training program per OMHSAS/DPW guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-oriented peer support services.
• Develop trusting, supportive relationships and use lived experience to aid recovery.
• Facilitate recovery groups and participate in educational presentations.
