Job summary

SmartyPants Vitamins is seeking a Temporary Certification Compliance Specialist to maintain the VMS Co-Op compliance systems and ensure conformity with regulatory and quality requirements, focusing on certification management. You will stay current with SOPs and industry guidelines while collaborating with the Regulatory Affairs team.

Located in El Segundo, CA (Remote), the role reports to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and requires 3–5 years in FDA-regulated settings, a science degree, and

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of regulatory/compliance experience in an FDA-regulated industry.
• Dietary supplement experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Nutrition Science, Biology, or similar.
• Must be current with cGMPs and regulations.
• Experience with certification management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Certify products and maintain active certifications with third-party bodies and retailers.
• Update SOPs and forms to maintain compliance.
• Stay up-to-date with changes to certification requirements and regulations.
• Initiate continuous improvement projects to drive efficiencies and improve quality and compliance.
• Inform other departments on new regulatory developments in a timely manner.
• Compose cover letters and submissions for external regulatory requests as necessary.
• Generate and report metrics related to certification status and quality control performance.
• Provide support during internal and external audits, as needed.
• Ensure all ingredients meet regulatory requirements and are approved for use in commercial production.
• Research regulations and guidelines to assess proposed changes to products and claims.
