Job summary

Qualified candidates have 5+ years in acute CDI, CDI certification, and strong EPIC EHR and DRG knowledge; IMG with bachelor’s degree preferred; no travel required.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum experience as Clinical Documentation Specialist in an acute setting.
• CDI subject matter expert for ALL PAYORS, all DRG groups (MS-DRG, APR-DRG, AP-DRG Elixhauser, risk variables)
• PSI/HAC/HCC (Risk adjustment coding) knowledge/experience and Vizient Calculator
• Experience with EPIC EHR and coding systems
• International Medical Graduate (IMG) with bachelor's degree or equivalent medical education

Responsibilities

• Ensure the overall quality and completeness of medical records.
• Documentation for all payor groups, all DRGs, including MS, AP, and APR.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and Health Information coding staff to support appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity.
• Support timely, accurate and complete documentation used for measuring hospital outcomes.
• Educate all members of the patient care team on ongoing basis as needed.
• Communicate effectively with hospital personnel by phone or e-mail.
• Work across adult, pediatric, and obstetric medicine areas with flexibility.
• Sit for long periods, operate computer systems and office equipment.
• Maintain essential functions with judgment and discipline.
