Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records, ensuring accurate documentation and compliant coding.

You will work with physicians to obtain necessary documentation and support high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate has an RN license with front-line CDI experience in acute care, and is proficient in CDI practices, coding guidelines, and EMR/CDI platforms.

Qualifications

• CDI best practices, coding and documentation requirements for quality outcomes.
• Front-line CDI experience in an acute care hospital.
• Active US RN license with ICU/Med Surge/Telemetry/ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Initiate physician queries for missing or conflicting info.
• Educate physicians and staff on documentation and reimbursement.
• Apply coding guidelines to assign working DRG with high specificity.
• Collaborate with coders, auditors and quality teams to resolve issues.
• Stay updated on clinical documentation standards and regulations.
