Job summary

Mosaic Life Care is seeking a skilled Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to join our health system in northwest Missouri. Under supervision, you will perform basic to intermediate CDI reviews, submit queries to providers, and participate in first and second level appeals.

Qualifications include an RN license, 3 years ICU/critical care experience, and CCDS/CDIP certifications within 2 years.

Qualifications

• 3 years of clinical ICU/critical care experience.
• RN licensure in state or compact state, required on hire.
• CCDS certification required within 2 years.
• CDIP certification required within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial, concurrent and retrospective reviews of clinical documentation for admissions to initiate tracking and document findings.
• Assigns and updates ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs, reviewing in a timely manner.
• Identifies need to clarify documentation and initiates provider queries to capture documentation.
• Reviews denials and analyzes for appeal recommendations; participates in first and second level denial appeals.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure accurate documentation and participates in training and process improvements.
