Job summary

PrideGlobal is seeking a Remote CDI Specialist to conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews, ensuring accurate documentation of diagnoses, comorbidities, and illness severity. You will support coding, billing, and medical necessity, applying clinical knowledge and CDI best practices.

In this remote role, collaboration with physicians, coders, and case management teams is essential to improve documentation and compliance with federal and state regulations.

Schedule:

Sun-Thurs schedule. Mandatory OT is expected, along with working the holiday when the holiday falls during the Sun-Thurs. schedule (unless the contractor is taking paid time off). The onboarding schedule will be Mon-Fri for appr. 3-4 weeks (maybe a little longer, if needed), prior to switching to the Sun-Thurs. schedule

Duties:

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records to identify documentation gaps.
• Ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses, comorbidities, and patient severity of illness.
• Support appropriate coding, billing, and medical necessity requirements.
• Apply knowledge of disease processes, pathophysiology, and medications.
• Collaborate with physicians, coders, nurses, and case management teams to improve documentation.
• Educate healthcare providers on clinical documentation improvement practices.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, coding guidelines, and industry standards.

Requirements:

• Education:
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must hold one of the following: RN, RHIT, RHIA, RRT, CCS, CCS-P, or International/Domestic Medical Degree.
• License(s): N/A
• Certification(s): Must have CDIP or CCDS certification.
• Years of experience:
• Minimum 2+ years of inpatient CDI Specialist experience.
• Recent experience in a production CDI role within the last 12 months.
• Advanced knowledge of pathophysiology, medications, and clinical documentation.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
