Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist to join our Clinical Documentation Integrity team in a remote, full-time role. You will assess documentation accuracy, perform audits, and educate providers to improve coding quality.

You’ll work with EHR systems (Epic) and CDI software (Iodine, 3M, Nuance) and develop education materials. A CCDS credential and relevant clinical documentation experience are required.

Qualifications

• CCDS certification from ACDIS is required prior to hire.
• Experience with CDI best practices, DRG methodologies, and coding principles.
• Ability to develop engaging education content for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assess accuracy, consistency, and compliance of clinical documentation reviews.
• Perform audits of CDI queries, documentation reviews, and EHR entries.
• Maintain audit tools, track metrics, and present findings to leadership.
• Evaluate query appropriateness, coding rules alignment, and CMS compliance.
• Create/maintain educational materials and query templates.
