Job summary

American Heart Association seeks a Science and Medicine Advisor to guide science volunteers in developing statements, guidelines, and education programs. The role requires clinical cardiology experience, strong writing, and ability to manage high-level volunteers across domestic and international teams.

The SMA will provide expert input for publications, websites, and media materials, while coordinating with staff to advance cardiovascular science and policy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Professional adult cardiology clinical experience (3+ years) with research in cardiovascular or related fields.
• Superior writing and communication skills with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with volunteers, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Guide science volunteers in creating scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, and conference programming.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects for internal programs and publications.
• Review content for Association websites and products with health and science implications.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science to lay professionals and internal staff.
