Job summary

American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor to guide clinical and research input from volunteers across the United States and internationally. The SMA helps produce scientific statements, guidelines, and educational programs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include reviewing content for websites and media, synthesizing complex literature for diverse audiences, and coordinating with internal staff on health initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree and clinical experience from an academic medical center, hospital, or private practice caring for cardiovascular patients or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional adult cardiology clinical experience with additional research experience in cardiovascular or related fields. Eight (8) years preferred.
• Superior writing & communication skills with a publication history in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in the creation of scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, conference programming, and mentoring experiences.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects to internal staff for public and professional programs, publications, websites, and marketing materials.
• Review content for Association professional websites and products.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science to lay professionals and internal staff and implications for the Association.
