Job summary

Methodist Medical Group, part of Methodist Health System in Dallas, seeks a professional coder for Cardiology and Cardiothoracic services. The role reviews medical records to assign CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 codes and communicates coding guidance to providers.

On-site training for at least three weeks is required, after which the position becomes remote; strong CMS knowledge and Epic EMR experience are preferred for accurate, timely submissions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is an asset.
• Minimum two years of professional coding experience or one year plus two years of HCC experience.
• CPC or CCS-P certification required; CCC preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CMS manuals, federal and regulatory guidelines and coding policies.

Responsibilities

• Review charges inpatient and outpatient for Cardiology and Cardiothoracic providers and assign CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 codes.
• Interpret documentation, apply modifiers/units, and respond to provider questions with written explanations.
• Participate in education programs and department meetings; maintain 90%+ coding accuracy.
• Maintain specialty coding queues and ensure timely payer submissions.
