Job summary

Proximity Learning is seeking a Virtual Reading Specialist / CALT to deliver research-based reading interventions remotely. You will work with students, families, and special education teams to improve decoding, fluency, and comprehension from anywhere.

Responsibilities include progress reporting, IEP collaboration, and adherence to FERPA/HIPAA. The role emphasizes structured literacy, telehealth delivery, and state regulations in a fully remote setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Reading Education, or related field.
• Valid state credential/licens e as a Reading Specialist or CALT credential in New Mexico.
• Strong working knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and state-specific regulations.
• Excellent written communication skills for intervention and progress reports.
• Comfort and proficiency with virtual platforms and IEP systems.
• Strong organizational skills to manage caseloads and deadlines.
• Reliable high-speed internet and private confidential workspace for telehealth.

Responsibilities

• Deliver live one-on-one virtual reading intervention sessions tailored to goals and IEP objectives.
• Use explicit, systematic, structured, multi-sensory teaching strategies (e.g., Orton-Gillingham or CALT methods).
• Conduct informal reading assessments and progress monitoring via telehealth platforms.
• Write clear, timely progress reports in line with district/state timelines; participate in IEP/504 meetings.
• Develop and monitor individual intervention plans with teachers and support staff.
• Consult with teachers, parents/guardians, and admins on strategies for literacy in virtual setting.
• Maintain confidential documentation compliant with FERPA, HIPAA, and state regulations.
• Collaborate with ESS/PLI team and district partners to ensure continuity of services.
