Job summary

Brains and Motion Education is seeking a Human Resources & Employment Compliance Manager to lead CA employment-law compliance, youth-safety screening, and full HR operations for a fully remote team. The role focuses on high-stakes regulatory work across multiple states, seasonal hiring, benefits, and employee relations.

You will partner with legal counsel, manage background checks (Live Scan), coordinate separations and final-pay rules, and drive policy updates with an eye toward defensible,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience with compliance and HR operations.
• Strong California employment-law knowledge and local ordinance familiarity.
• Direct background-check administration experience, including Live Scan.
• Experience coordinating seasonal hiring and payroll compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own CA employment-law compliance, with related postings and notices.
• Manage youth-safety background screening, Live Scan and related records.
• Oversee HR operations, benefits, leave, onboarding, and payroll liaison.
• Partner with legal counsel on accommodations and investigations.
• Support a fully remote, people-first culture across states.
