Job summary

Tether is seeking a hands-on systems engineer to join the Bare team, building and maintaining the runtime and native modules across macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. You will write C native addons that bridge platform APIs into JavaScript and ship end-to-end modules that run on phones, laptops, servers, and constrained devices.

This is a cross-functional, remote-friendly role requiring strong C, advanced JavaScript, and experience with Node.js internals, N-API, and cross-compilation toolchains.

Qualifications

• Strong C programming skills and experience writing and debugging native code across platforms.
• Advanced JavaScript skills with a solid understanding of Node.js internals and the module ecosystem.
• Experience building native addons for Node.js or similar runtimes (N-API, node-gyp, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with cross-compilation and platform-specific system APIs (Bluetooth, networking, filesystem).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and ship bare-* native modules end to end, including code and tests.
• Write C native addons that bridge platform APIs into JavaScript.
• Maintain and extend existing native modules based on product team requests.
