Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Senior C++ Backend Engineer for AI data platforms. This fully remote, hourly contract role offers 20–40 hours per week to build and maintain high-throughput data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems used to train and improve cutting-edge AI models.

You will design, implement, and optimize backend services in C++, collaborate with research and data teams, and contribute to architecture reviews shaping the platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional C++ development experience.
• Experience with high-performance systems and async I/O.
• Experience with distributed systems and data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance C++ systems powering AI data pipelines and model evaluation workflows.
• Develop backend services and full-stack tooling supporting large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control.
• Improve reliability, safety, and throughput across existing production C++ codebases.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, edge cases, and failure modes in complex distributed systems.
• Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to accelerate model training and evaluation.
