Job summary

Alignerr in the Seattle area is seeking a Back End Developer for a fully remote hourly contract to design, build, and optimize the server-side systems and APIs powering AI products—from data pipelines to model-serving infrastructure.

You will work asynchronously with distributed teams, implement robust microservices, and ensure performance and reliability at scale across cloud platforms and databases.

Qualifications

• Experience as a back-end developer building server-side systems and APIs.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices in distributed environments.
• Experience with relational/noSQL databases and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back end services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build scalable server-side architecture to support AI workloads.
• Write clean, well-documented, testable code following best practices.
• Integrate with databases, queues, cloud services, and third-party APIs.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability as usage grows.
• Collaborate asynchronously with distributed teams of engineers, researchers, and product leads.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Work independently on task- and project-based assignments.
