Job summary

Hunt St Pty Ltd is seeking a seasoned bookkeeper for a fully remote role with a Philippine-based candidate. You will manage a portfolio of Australian small business clients, maintain financial records, and process payroll weekly to align with AU business hours.

Ideal candidates bring 2–3+ years of bookkeeping, strong GST knowledge, and proficiency in cloud accounting tools. This is an independent contractor engagement with flexible hours and direct client interaction.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience.
• Solid grasp of Australian GST and ability to research GST vs GST-free items.
• Experience processing weekly payroll and meeting deadlines; STP and superannuation a plus.
• Proficiency with cloud accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks Online.
• Strong written and spoken English with ability to explain bookkeeping to clients clearly.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management.
• Reliable home office setup with stable internet and backup power.
• Experience working with Australian accounting firms or Australian small business clients.
• Experience managing multiple client accounts, especially in healthcare, construction, or e-commerce.
• Familiarity with Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), PAYG, and Australian payroll awards.

Responsibilities

• Process transactions and reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts accurately.
• Code transactions for Australian GST, including GST-free items.
• Process weekly payroll accurately and meet deadlines; include Monday payroll before 2:00 PM AEST.
• Prepare BAS and IAS workpapers for review by the accounting team.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier bills and debtor follow-ups.
• Communicate with clients to request information and clarify bookkeeping needs.
• Prepare month-end and quarter-end reports; maintain organised client records.
• Document processes and client notes to support team collaboration.
• Track time accurately against client jobs for billing purposes.
