Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Software Developer with 1–3 years of professional experience to own production software in biomedical data portals. Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
• 1-3 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, shell scripting, and modern web frameworks (React, Vue).
• Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs, CSS, and component-based design patterns.
• Experience with automated testing, version control (e.g., GitHub), and collaborative software development workflows.
• Experience with visualization libraries (D3.js, Vitessce, Gosling) and WebGL/WebGPU is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web-based software for biomedical data discovery and visualization.
• Participate in the software development life cycle across multiple projects.
• Identify, triage, and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks using browser tools.
• Write tests and documentation, and maintain open-source code.
• Contribute to code reviews, issue tracking, and iterative development.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate scientific needs into software features.
• Stay current with data visualization and AI trends.
