Job summary

Harvard University’s HIDIVE Lab in Biomedical Informatics seeks a Software Developer with 1–3 years of experience to own production software and contribute to AI-enabled data portals for biomedical research. You will build web-based tools for discovery and visualization, and integrate APIs.

Collaborate with researchers to translate scientific needs into features, contribute to open-source projects, and gain exposure to cutting-edge NLP-driven metadata exploration.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with automated testing and version control.
• Knowledge of containerization with Docker.

Job description

• We are seeking a Software Developer with 1-3 years of experience to take real ownership of production software and gain exposure to biomedical research.
• You will integrate a natural-language conversational AI system for exploring biomedical metadata into data portals, developing APIs and packages.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain web-based software for biomedical data discovery and visualization.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate scientific needs into software features and contribute to open-source tools.

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs, automated testing, version control, and containerization with Docker.
• Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.js, Gosling, or Vitessce is a plus.

• This is a one-year term position with possibility of extension, working 35 hours per week fully remotely in a Harvard registered state.
