First Children’s Finance Minnesota is seeking a Business Development Specialist (BDS) to work with small businesses in the Twin Cities metro region. This position is a remote work opportunity with the expectation of travel within the region when required to meet with partners, individual child care businesses, and communities.

The Business Development Specialist position provides business and financial planning, consultation, training and support to early care and education providers; promotes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of four years’ experience in financial management, planning and/or training.
• Experience in consulting, training, lending, and/or financial analysis.
• Experience working with small businesses, or owning/operating a small business.
• Strategic thinker and effective implementer.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude.
• Highly organized and able to work independently.
• Familiar with state child care licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develops programs, services, and resources to support the mission of FCF.
• Provides training and consultation to improve child care business practices.
• Assists startup and existing child care businesses in financial crisis.
• Analyzes financial and program data.
• Assists with program reporting as assigned.
• Facilitates small-group and community engagement activities.
